    Dear Kathy and Family

Thank you so much for looking after us during our visit in April. We had such an amazing time whilst we were staying with you and I can’t wait to book to come again….watch out!

Paraiso Jardim is beautiful, the scenery is stunning and company was fabulous. I expect its already very different from when we came to stay and I can’t wait to see the pictures of the new and improved apartments.

For anyone looking for a relaxing, charming escape this is the perfect place. I fully recommend walking down to Burgau and along the headlands in either direction – what a beautiful place to live and excellent bus connections to Luz/Lagos right outside the front door!

    See you again soon….

We had a really good break and everybody says how well we look. Weather not quite warm enough for the beach some of the time, so we did a bit of walking and it was perfect for that. In the hills and hollows behind Almadena and Espiche, moorland, and coast bays south of Raposeira and the wide open flats and cliffs out round Sagres and beyond.

The apartment was lovely. Comfortable, airy, bright and clean, good beds, all the cutlery, china towels etc we’d need, and everything in the shower bathroom worked well. To lean on the balcony of its sunny big private roof terrace looking across miles of open country one way, or over the Paraiso Jardim Estate the other, makes you feel as if you own the place. (Joyfully, without the work involved) The big green garden is great and the pool, again, clean, bright, blue and inviting with its sunloungers, umbrellas and attendant swallows zooming around, we used regularly.

Thank you again for setting us up with the groceries when we arrived, a big help, and also for inviting us to meet the family and eat Sylvia’s(?) portugese dishes with you all. It was a really happy, interesting evening – all these new people who are changing direction and doing unusual stuff!

The apartment was spotless, and tastefully furnished, with the welcome pack a nice touch.
Kath and Alan, the owners, are very friendly and always willing to give advice and assistance.
We would add that the overwhelming feeling is of being in a relaxed setting where the hosts are flexible and do their utmost to look after their guests.
The main advantage of Paraiso Jardim is the ability to have a quiet secluded holiday, with the benefit of the local town five minutes walk away, with its bars and restaurants. Many beaches within easy reach, and we would recommend hiring a car to take full advantage of the beautiful Algarve.
Paraiso Jardim brought back wonderful memories off our first holiday in Portugal, with its beautiful gardens, buildings and pool.
It is rare that you find a place that makes you wish you could stay forever. Paraiso Jardim is one such destination.

We stayed here for 6 nights in July. The apartment was very clean and tidy. Everything was there at hand and if not Kath and Alan are on site who are extremely helpful and friendly to make your stay as comfortable as possible. Paraiso Jardim is in a relaxing and serene enviroment. Kids aged 8 and 11 loved the pool. We had a lovely and wonderful stay here and would stay here again.

We all had a fabulous holiday at Paraiso Jardim (Aug 12 – 23), it was such a relief to get away from the soggy UK! The weather was glorious every day, so full use was made of the fabulous pool and the facilities in the summer kitchen.

Paraiso Jardim offers ‘the best of both worlds’ re. an apartment holiday – with facilities and the opportunity to chat with other guests, but is small and secluded so there was no competing for sunbeds etc. (there were plenty!) The hosts were available and willing to offer advice re. facilities and information about the region, which was a boon when our teenagers were debating which of the waterparks would be the best for them. There was certainly lots to see and do – the caves via boat from Lagos are stunning, Loule is a quaint but authentic Portuguese market town – the gypsy market (on Saturdays) and the town market were both well worth attending, the various local beaches and restaurant / bars around Paraiso Jardim were all worth exploring. The local restaurant – Brodies (just across the road) serves fabulous food and O Poco offers a litre of house wine for 6 euros.

We would recommend staying here and look forward to booking again.

My family and I arrived at our room after a long day travelling at 10pm and found that it had been carefully prepared for our arrival with greatly appreciated welcome food and drink in the fridge. I had requested the two single beds be made into one double; this was done with no fuss, the room was very clean and true to what we expected from the pictures seen on the web.
Our holiday with our son lasted for 1 week and we had a fantastic time, the setting was pleasant and calming, sitting slightly inland away from the hustle and bustle, with little or no noise pollution all contributing to making the pool days as relaxing as possible. The local bus service stopped just a short walk away and provided easy transport to a choice of three nice beaches.
We were very impressed with the attitude of Alan and Kath the owners who would always go out of their way to help, in fact we had a small emergency that warranted a trip to the hospital both Alan and Kath drove us there and then picked us up again later.

I don’t know anything about running holiday accommodation but I know about management and motivation. Ten out of ten to both of you.

We all had a great time and hope to return next year.

    Paul and Val Shannon.

We stayed in Paraiso Jardim at the end of July for 9 nights. Kathy welcomed us on arrival and showed us the apartment which was lovely and clean with fabulous views. There is beaufitul scenery all around Paraiso Jardim and we have fond memories of sitting outside in the evenig drinking lovely Portugese wine, while watching the sun set.
It was lovely to be able to relax somewhere where it is quiet and peaceful in the evenings.
It is also a great location to go for a nice long run or cycle and Kathy was kind enough to lend us her bike for the duration of our stay.
The village of Almadena is just a stones throw away and it was lovely to stroll over for a quiet drink in the evening or to even have something to eat there and stroll back.
Just looking at the pictures on the website makes me want to go back and we will most definitely return to Kathy and her family. Thank you for a lovely stay in a beautiful place!

What a pleasure to have my French Canadian family end their stay at Paraiso Jardim full of praise.

The apprehensions of first-time travel disappeared with Kathy’s warm welcome. They loved their cottage, and Kathy was able to help out with exhausted camera batteries and such matters. Kathy helped with shopping, hard in another language. They were also treated to a trip up the West coast.

“It has been like being with family,” said one.

The 20 year old grandaughter has announced she will be back with a friend to occupy one of the smaller cottages. There is so much to do if feeling active.
If the goal is to relax, this is a retreat. It has been a truly successful holiday for all.

  9. Peter Langham says:

A really great place to stay and relax, let the worries of the world pass you by as Kath and Alan the hosts take care of you from entering to sadly leaving Paraiso Jardim. Great apartments, clean and spacious; lovely walk to Burgau, with bus stop, pubs and restaurant just over the road. Can’t wait to come back.

Just got back from a weeks stay at Kathy and Alans fantastic apartments, From the minute we arrived we were on holiday, nothing was to much trouble to them
Apartments were spotless, the beds were very comfortable (10/10) welcome food was in the fridge which we asked if they could get for us before we arrived.
They welcomed us at the gate when we arrived, and seen us off at 5.00am on the day we left,
they helped us set up the BBQ and then supplied a cooked meal for us.
the other reviews indicate how wonderful the apartments and the surrounding areas are.these give a really true reflection. i am sure if you visit, you will not be dissapointed. Until you have to return home

    Thanks again

Thank you so so much for a wonderful stay, it could not have been better. The hospitality that Kathy and Alan offered was better than anywhere I’ve ever stayed.

We wanted a peaceful and relaxing holiday in august, and were worried this wasn’t possible, but we ready needn’t have. With only 5 rooms sharing a huge gorgeous pool we had many days where we were the only ones there.

We were also worried about the apartments being near the road and being noisy, but were amazed that you literally hear nothing from it. In fact, it just became very useful as it was easy to get to any of the beaches, towns and mountains. A brilliant location.

Our favourite beach was on the atlantic coast (don’t go on a windy day though – ouch!) called Cordoama – Borrow the body boards from the pool area and its a fantastic day out. The water feels chilli to begin with but you soon get used to it!! Also have the Sardines and Langoustine from the cafe on the beach – Mmmm!!

The other beach we loved was Figuera just down the coast. (very sheltered from the wind) Hardly anyone on it and a lovely walk down (about 10 mins).

In terms of eating out, we went somewhere different each night. kathy & Alan were so kind that they gave us a lift every night to where ever we wanted! Totally no need for them to do it, but it was fantastic… then taxi’s back were easy and cheap so no problem at all. Our favourite restaurant was no.6 in Burgau.

Really really hope to go back again sometime and would advise anyone to go here (except if you are going to ruin the peace and quiet!!)

    Thanks again,

Lara and Gavin (28 & 34years old from Bristol)

We really enjoyed our stay at Paraiso Jardim with our two teenage sons. They particularly appreciated the large pool which we often had to ourselves. The western end of the Algarve is the least developed. Paraiso Jardim was a particularly great location for us as we had access to both southern coast beaches such as Salema and Zavial and the wilder and emptier western coast beaches with huge Atlantic rollers and acres of flat wet sand to do stuff with balls!.Kathy and Al were great hosts -so warm and friendly. We particularly enjoyed cooking on the BBQ in summer kitchen where we got together with people we met staying in one of the other apartments. Paraiso would be ideal if you are travelling as two or more families.

  13. Susan Hunneyball says:

I stayed in Vine Cottage at Paraiso Jardim with 2 elderly parents, and 2 young boys ( and one other!) It suited all of us as Vine Cottage with its super thick walls was cool in the heat of the day for my parents while the boys loved the pool. The children were also fascinated by the Roman Well ( but don’t worry, this is not generally accessible to children!)
Kathy and Alan made us feel relaxed and welcome right from the start. We arrived late on a Sunday and they had left food and wine, tea and coffee in the cottage which was much appreciated! The boys are keen on horses and they printed off details of a local horse fiesta and even offered to show us the way there as the directions were a little complicated.
A really lovely and relaxing place to stay. I hope to be back soon.
    Thank you Kathy and Alan!

Just got back from a fabulous 2 week stay at Paraiso Jardim. Our party consisted of 4 family groups (8 adults and 5 children). Paraiso Jardim provided the perfect setting with ample grounds and a pool which we effectively had to ourselves. The property is perfectly located within a quick drive to Lagos, Luz, Burgau, Salema and many other beaches and restaurants.

The cottages/apartments are very comfortable, provide for plenty of space and are refreshingly cool during the day.

Kathy & Al, are the perfect hosts and were always on hand to provide recommendations on restaurants, beaches and other places of interest.

Kathy & Al, it was an absolute pleasure to spend such a relaxing holiday at your beautiful property.

I very much hope we will be able to visit the Algarve in the not too distant future and would love to stay in Vine again next time.

Best wishes to you both and thanks again!

I stayed for a short break with my Mum in the Bird of Paradise studio apartment while visiting family close by. It is well set up with all you could need and the private terrace is so peaceful.

A very short walk into Almadena for groceries and the amazing food at Brodies. We manged just the one dip in the pool and I just wish I had more time to spend there. Kathy and Alan could not have been more friendly or helpful hosts.

I can highly recommend staying here and hope to be back myself at some point.
